Job Responsibilities:
The Outside Electrician is responsible for:
- Install wireways supporting cables in submarines. Install cables and electrical components (nuclear and non-nuclear) ranging from large power distribution switchboards to telephones (also includes control, power, electronics, and weapon systems).
- Install, tag out, and test ship's lighting.
- Hook up cables to electrical components in accordance with NAVSEA methods and procedures, such as hardwire and connecterization.
- Groom electrical components for a variety of inspections, and also responsible to provide documentation for every job performed. Mechanics are provided skills, including Vulcanization of ship's cables and the installation andmaintenance of shipboard temporary services.
- Applicants will be tasked to learn power and data/signal cable splicing.
