Job Responsibilities:

 

The Outside Electrician is responsible for: 

  • Install wireways supporting cables in submarines. Install cables and electrical components (nuclear and non-nuclear) ranging from large power distribution switchboards to telephones (also includes control, power, electronics, and weapon systems).
  • Install, tag out, and test ship's lighting.  
  • Hook up cables to electrical components in accordance with NAVSEA methods and procedures, such as hardwire and connecterization.
  • Groom electrical components for a variety of inspections, and also responsible to provide documentation for every job performed. Mechanics are provided skills, including Vulcanization of ship's cables and the installation andmaintenance of shipboard temporary services.
  • Applicants will be tasked to learn power and data/signal cable splicing.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or be a current High School Senior
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience
  • Must be available for all shifts.

Preferred: 

  • Vocational, Technical Colleges, Apprentice programs, Military, Shipbuilding, and Manufacturing experience
  • Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program
