CTF – Electrical Instructor
The Compatibility Test Facility (CTF) in Philadelphia is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Electrical Instructor for the Training School. This position will play an important role in the training and qualification of students assigned to the Electrical trade and Ship’s Test Organization at the CTF.
The Electrical Instructor will be part of an instructor team, who is responsible for training a variety of students, including new hires, and existing employees in Test, Electrical, and Supervision. They will run initial classes and periodic refreshers in the classroom and Active Learning Center. This position will also be required to teach courses outside of the specific electrical trade including general safety related courses, cleanliness courses, etc. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor.
Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:
- Instructing multiple electrical related classroom courses including High Voltage, Fiber optics, ESD, Stud welding, Noise control, run sheets, etc.
- Directing and assessing hands on training with mockups and related exercises
- Utilize existing curriculum and instructor best practices
- Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during Deck plate audits
- Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
- Supporting various course content reviews, updates and course development activities
- Conducting assessments on students
- Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
- Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues
- Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned
- Meeting with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed
- Build and schedule classroom sessions in the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Provide course completions in the LMS
- Monitor CTF Employee classes “Coming Due” “Expired” and “Incomplete’ and act accordingly.
- Build out ALCs & ensure material and mock-ups are available
- Build proficiency among the workforce utilizing the ALCs
- Collaborate with Groton & QP training organizations
Work Schedule – The selected candidate will be expected to work the following work schedule:
- General 1st shift hours (6:30am – 2:30pm) with flexibility to adjust hours as necessary to support business need
- Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)
- The individual must be flexible to support short term training assignments on all shifts as needed
- Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
