Overview

Robotic Welders are competent welders whose mission is assembling the massive tubes that will hold Columbia’s intercontinental ballistic missiles. This position will provide you with the training to operate and program the robotic welding machines to accurately cut/bevel and weld the missile tubes.

The tubes are grouped in a “quad Pack” to assemble the Common Missile Compartment CMC Section.   Once the section is assembled, this quad pack is completed with a hull section, joined with additional quad packs, and then outfitted as a complete missile compartment with decks, systems and other equipment.  Four CMC’s will join together to create the 16-tube capacity and this is all brought together by our robotic welding machines.

Individuals with mechanized welding, UT/RT, CAD/CAM, CNC are encouraged to apply but it is not a requirement and training will be provided.

Training will be provided for up to 6 months on 1st shift and then permanent shift placement will be provided.  The 6-month training includes hand, mechanized, mirror and robot welding.
