The job is comprised of two primary areas of responsibility:
- The manufacture of test fixtures from raw materials and the assembly of the test components to the test fixtures. This requires the candidate to be proficient in small machine shop manufacturing using machine tools such as vertical milling machines, lathes, drill presses, band saws, surface grinders, etc.
- The fabrication of test stands, test set-up and the execution of unique off-hull testing of prototype and submarine equipment. This requires the candidate to be proficient enough in hydraulics and HP/LP air to be able to set-up and perform tests. During testing the candidate will be required to work in a group environment where cooperation is essential to complete tests safely, accurately and within cost and schedule objectives. The candidate will be required to have a strong commitment to safe working practices. The candidate will also be expected to support Process Improvement initiatives as they develop.
