Overview

The Supply Chain organization is looking for individuals that can lead with high energy, in a quick paced environment with high visibility. Supply Chain is hiring multiple Supervisors responsible for leading procurement teams to deliver quality material from the supply base to our shipyard on time at the best value for our shareholders and Customers.

 

The supervisor positions span a variety of procurement areas ranging from high volume to large project management procurements. Based on the individual’s background and where the best the best fit the candidate would be placed, Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure process and procedures are well understood and followed
  • Strategic sourcing / contracting, work scope development, generation of requests for proposal
  • Review of supplier proposals for adequacy and compliance including supplier capacity assessments, contract terms and conditions, cost/price analysis
  • Negotiation of Price, Delivery, and other Terms and Conditions
  • Contract administration including managing the supplier, as well an internal departments, to ensure successful contract performance
  • Ensuring ITAR compliance when conducting business with foreign suppliers
  • Material and services prioritization to support shipyard needs
  • Resolution of problems affecting contract performance and shipyard schedules
  • Supplier development and relationship management
  • Purchase order and subcontract closeout

Supervisory duties will include training and development of personnel, assignment of work and prioritization, review and approval of work product, labor budget development, labor approvals and progressing, assuring timely completion of work assignments, and salaried performance reviews, etc.


Position requires proven skills in: project management, organization, multitasking, problem solving, negotiating and communication, as well as supply base capability knowledge, technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and excellent computer skills. The ability to interface effectively with Shipyard End Users, Program Office, EB Engineering and Quality Personnel, Quonset Point and Groton Machine Shops, Supplier Senior Level Executives, as well as Senior Electric Boat Management Staff is essential.

 

*Travel will be required.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree 
  • 4+ years of experience in Materials Acquisition, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Finance or related business field
  • Demonstrated experience in a team lead role
  • Proficiency with MS Office  
  • Travel up to 50%, local and or international based on business needs

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing or Economics or related business field
  • Experience in Government Contracting, supply chain management, procurement, or contract administration
  • Experience leading a team of direct reports
  • Experience working with Senior Management at Electric Boat
  • Experience working with the specified commodities
  • Experience working with EB’s iSupplier / Oracle procurement system
  • Experience negotiating high

Skills

  • The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for material planning, business systems and have the capability to accept a leadership role in system and process development, maintain current business systems and be involved in the enhancements of the current processes
  • Successful candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated strong work ethic for completing tasks and work assignments on time
  • Strong problem solving skills
