The Outside Electrician Manager of Operations is a role specifically focused on safely executing work at the highest quality at the Groton facility. This role will manage performance for the department’s safety, quality, cost, schedule, continuous improvement and employee communications. The candidate must possess a proven track record in these areas. Additional responsibilities include project management, controlling overhead and direct budgets/EAC and managing daily operations. The candidate must have effective problem solving skills, be able to promote a positive team environment and be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills. Must be fully cognizant of OSHA requirements relating to specific trades and is accountable for the enforcement of standards and shipyard safety practices. Must be able to interpret and implement all job requirements utilizing EB systems and procedures.
Key Responsibilities of an Operations Manager:
Product/ Services
Coordinate with external customers and internal partners/stakeholders
Deliver quality products/services
Achieve quality objectives; apply corrective actions to address deficiencies
Achieve cost/schedule objectives; adjust manpower, material and equipment as needed
Drive innovation and continuous improvement efforts to support program goals
Identify production facilities and equipment needs; consult with facility maintenance
Provide input to availability of production and non-production material; consult with material planners and facilities
Process:
Enforce/comply with safety and environmental programs; monitor trends and ensure compliance; consult with responsible departments
Plan for risk identification and responsive mitigation strategies
Meet established annual operation, overhead, and capital budgets; consult with program and finance managers
People:
Plan for Human Resource needs through succession planning and talent management; input to the recruiting and selection of new employees; consult with manpower planning and trade resource managers
Improve workforce readiness through training and development;
Improve workforce performance and productivity; establish and communicate expectations; positively motivate the workforce
Monitor and improve workplace climate; reinforce desired workforce values behaviors; maintain morale
Manage individual performance of General Foremen and Operations Supervisors; develop their technical and leadership skills
Collaborate with HR to establish pay adjustments and take appropriate disciplinary actions
