Overview

The successful candidate will report to the Program Supervisor for the Next Generation Nuclear Propulsion Plant (NGNPP) program office. This position is located in New London. The NGNPP program office supports a multi-discipline group of engineers, program and construction support personnel working in the United Kingdom to support BAE Systems personnel on the Dreadnought and SSN-AUKUS Submarine Programs from detailed design through build, test and commissioning. Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

 

  • Coordination and tracking of US/UK technical exchange workshops and consultations in the US and UK.
  • Coordinate technical work packages from the UK with the EB functional areas.
  • Coordinate technical information requests from the UK with various EB functional areas.
  • Become a derivative classifier to support D406 work 
  • Work closely with program security and ITAR legal representatives to ensure program compliance
  • Support weekly meetings and VTC’s with the UK, NNL, HII-NNS and MoD.
  • Support of the EB UK off-site team including employee relocation/repatriation.
  • Oversight and management of procedure reviews.
  • Implementation of programmatic process improvements.
  • Development of presentations and the ability to present to upper levels of management.
  • Procedure documentation, improvement and sustainment.
  • Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple assignments simultaneously.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma/GED or Vocational High School diploma
  • 3 years of relevant program office, engineering, design management or operations experience
  • Experience propulsion plant systems or equipment
  • Experience interfacing with or creating formal submissions to NR/NNL or other government customers
  • Ability to lead shipyard tours and stand for long periods of time
  • DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred:

  • BS/BA or advanced degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of ITAR and 1958 Mutual Defense Agreement requirements
  • Experience procuring nuclear material from EB vendors.
  • Derivative classifier qualification
  • Experience with Groton and QP building processes. (Ops, Waterfront Engineering or Test engineer) 

Skills

  • Strong Leadership and written communication skills are required for this position
  • Demonstrated MS Office experience including developing high-quality Power Point presentations, manipulating data and determining trends in Excel, and generating professional documents in Word.
  • Must be well-organized and capable of handling multiple assignments at the same time. 
  • Prior experience building presentations and interfacing with higher levels of management.
