Electric Boat's Navy Facility Engineering and Training Technologies team is seeking a Multimedia Analyst to utilize video production skills to visualize, design, and produce digital media for various platforms in support of operational and technical training and other specialized educational programs for the U.S. Navy submarine fleet personnel in accordance with U.S. Navy Educational Training Command (NETC) standards and Submarine On Board Training (SOBT) guidelines for major ship systems, e.g., Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E), Common Missile Compartment (CMC), and Steam Electrical Plant (SEP).

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating studio and field-based video production work, including the planning, filming, editing, sound mixing, graphic design and compression output and distribution of video productions within approved budget and delivery deadlines. Video production for this position occurs primarily at shipyard facilities and military installations. The applicant must be comfortable traveling to off-site locations, operating on multiple shifts, and working in a variety of industrial climates, e.g., outdoors, inclement weather, tight spaces, elevated locations, working near heavy machinery.

 

This position is sponsored by Navy Facility Engineering and Training Technologies and reports directly to the Program Supervisor for D701.


Responsibilities:

  • Creatively plan and translate abstract concepts into effective visual form; work with other technical and non-technical staff to organize and implement videotaping of instructional or other educational related projects.
  • Set up and adjust studio lighting equipment including fixed and portable tungsten lights.
  • Adjust audio equipment including assorted lavalier, cardioid and shotgun microphones.
  • Conduct studio and field-based video production which involves interacting with clients, scripting, and operating all portable video and audio equipment.
  • Lift, transport, and breakdown video/audio/lighting equipment utilized in studio and field production.
  • Plan and perform video post-production tasks which include reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, video transcoding, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing using Adobe Creative Suite video editing software.
  • Utilize computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts.
  • Work with management and employees to be comfortable in front of the camera.
  • Provide limited troubleshooting of video, audio and lighting equipment; performs routine equipment maintenance.
  • Research trends and makes recommendations to department for software and equipment purchases.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4 + years of experience working in a professional video editing/producing environment
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of production equipment including, analog/digital video cameras, audio, lighting, and video editing equipment.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud; Premier, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, or other non-linear editing software.
  • Experience executing multiple projects simultaneously and deliver completed productions within established timelines.
  • Candidates that are selected for an interview will be required to present and discuss the contents of a portfolio showcasing experience in video production, animation, narration, and post-production editing.
  • Ability to possess a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunication, video production or related field.
  • Experience using interactive courseware development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate or Adobe Animate.

Skills

  • Demonstrated competence in all areas of video production.
