Overview

The COLUMBIA (CLB) Program Supervisor for the performance and execution of work conducted by Huntington Ingalls Industries - Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) on the CLB Program. This position will be based out of Groton, CT.

This CLB Program Supervisor will interface with Offsite EB CLB teams and HII-NNS Design Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Ships’ Management representatives for all contractual performance aspects of work being performed by HII-NNS on the CLB program. The successful candidate will develop a relationship with these members in support of executing the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and Manufacture Assembly Plan (MAP), ensuring that risks to contract performance are properly identified and mitigated to avoid detrimental performance. The successful candidate will also provide oversight of contract changes and work transfers between EB and HII-NNS.


The specific responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership and programmatic direction on CLB Class efforts by HII-NNS (manage up, down and across companies)
  • Work with all CLB related departments to identify programmatic risks and develop corrective action plans, while maintaining contract performance
  • Identify and remove barriers and obstacles to help enable HII-NNS to meet program goals
  • Work with other subcontractors, vendors, SUPSHIP, and NAVSEA to develop technical solutions and resolve program issues
  • Maintain highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • Maintain continuous communications with internal team and external customers to ensure smooth, integrated efforts throughout contract execution

 

This is a high visibility position to senior leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with all levels of management to report progress and manage activities. Engagement will be throughout Electric Boat’s and HII-NNS organizations including Program Office, Engineering, Planning, Operations, Test, Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, NAVSEA, and SUPSHIP.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in technical, management, or business fields
  • Five years of experience at Electric Boat or Ten years of experience with Naval construction management or a combination of both

Preferred:

  • BS in Engineering
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Business Administration
  • Five years of leadership or project management experience
  • Previous experience dealing with the following Electric Boat support departments (Materials Management, Contracts, Finance, and Accounting)
  • Understanding of submarine modular build and delivery plan
  • Experience working with SUPSHIP/ NAVSEA /HII-NNS on major Navy Submarine Programs
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance

- Must exhibit patience and persistence working with unique and challenging customers and personalities

- Must be self-starter with attention to details
- Must have strong oral, written, and presentation skills as well as strong organizational and planning skills
- Must also have the ability to communicate with the utmost professionalism at the executive level and with the Customer
- Must be willing to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
