About Department 468 - Planning Yard Fleet Support and Systems Engineering
Department 468, within EB’s Life Cycle Support directorate, is responsible for non-nuclear technical support for commissioned VIRGINIA, OHIO, and SEAWOLF Class submarines for maintenance planning and execution, in areas of drawing and material support, configuration management, and certification.
Within this group, the Availability Support Group (ASG) fulfills a key role in providing this support to multiple US Navy stakeholders during submarine maintenance periods at Naval Shipyards (NSYs) and maintenance facilities.
Role Overview
As an Engineer in the Availability Support Group, you will routinely interact with the NSYs, NAVSEA PMS392 and PMS450, the submarine maintenance community, and EB engineering and design personnel to help champion effective configuration management and quality assurance of drawings and technical variance documentation (TVD) applicable to commissioned submarines. This position may require occasional travel to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (ME), Norfolk Naval Shipyard (VA), Washington Engineering Office (DC) and other customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
A solid understanding of drawing, Engineering Report, and Auto-Revision processes, TVD documentation, and Engineering Configuration Management requirements is necessary to be successful in this role.
