This position is for the Focus Factory Outfitting Site in Mobile, AL.

 

Manufacturing Representative – Alabama

The Strategic Sourcing Program is hiring a Manufacturing Representative to support Columbia deck outfitting efforts in Mobile, Alabama. The outfitting will be conducted in a Focus Factory environment and include post paint installation of Electrical, Structural, Mechanical and more.

The site is looking for experienced personnel that can act in a “Subject Matter Expert” role. This effort would be in support of VA and Columbia Class Decks outfitting utilizing an Embedded Team located in Mobile, Alabama. This position will mentor and oversee the work content, means and methods of fabrication/outfitting, utilizing supplier personnel as embedded EB employees. Manufacturing Rep will provide guidance for the group’s Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Continuous Improvement related to the piping core trades. The Manufacturing Rep shall assist the EB supervisor for ensuring good work practices, maintaining EB culture, assisting with process improvements, and ensuring assigned supplier personnel conform to all regulatory/EB requirements.

The Focus Factory environment consists of supplier personnel being utilized as Embedded EB contractors, provided contractor badges, necessary trade training and access to portions of the business system. The Focus Factory “builds to EB paper” and requires strict adherence to the EB policies, procedures, processes and work packages. The selected candidate will be responsible for interacting with all levels of supplier and EB management.

The candidate selected must be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate must be task oriented, able to prioritize workload and be responsible for knowledge transfer. In addition, the individual must have effective problem solving and critical thinking skills and must be able to cultivate and promote a positive TEAM environment.

  • Must possess energetic, positive attitude and be willing to change, develop and adapt as the requirements of assigned tasks dictate 
  • Assist EB supervisor in technical work execution, quality, cost, schedule, continuous improvement and lessons learned
  • Manufacturing Rep will be responsible for interfacing with Focus Factory EB and supplier personnel and acting as “one” TEAM
  • Manufacturing Rep will be permanently located in Alabama supporting Focus Factory (work to EB paper) programs at an EB supplier facility
  • EB Manufacturing Rep will be responsible for the transfer of knowledge to supplier personnel
  • EB Manufacturing Rep will ensure EB practices, means and methods are taught and employed during performance of the work and will be active in guiding and mentoring supplier personnel
  • EB Manufacturing Rep will ensure that Safety and Quality are top priority. Ensure all QA functions, such as NDT, are performed by EB authorized personnel or properly trained embedded supplier personnel
  • EB Manufacturing Rep will train, coach, mentor and oversee Electronic Record Signatures within ERS for completion of Fit-up, Welding, VT and other functions
  • Ensure embedded employees know how to perform assigned work within set expectations and raise awareness in knowledge gaps requiring further training
  • Provide training and mentoring to the embedded supplier operations supervisor. Utilize EB standards for monitoring work performed and ensure all necessary materials, supplies, tools, work orders and documentation are available
  • EB Manufacturing Rep is to gain the trust and collaboration of the supplier’s embedded personnel
  • EB Manufacturing Rep is to monitor and identify any behavioral issues and refer them to the EB supervisor for resolution
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with co-workers and supervisors
  • Must have the ability to provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor and motivate crew
  • Successful applicants will be placed on a select shift based on business necessity
  • Travel may be required to other Focus Factory locations

*This position may be eligible for a Relocation Package*

Qualifications

Required:

  • 4 years’ minimum ship yard experience
  • At least one-year relevant experience in Structural welding, Ship fitting, Electrical or Outside Machinist
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be proficient in blue print, diagram and drawing interpretation
  • Must be available to work all shifts, split shifts extended hours and weekends as business need dictates

Preferred:

  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice Programs
  • VT 3.10 & 3.11 (MDD-00948) qualification, or have the ability and knowledge to obtain qualification
  • Navy/Military experience
  • Experience in EWP, including Electronic Desktop, ELCADD, ERS, PCM and AWPPS

Skills:

  • Good organizational, presentation and communication skills
  • Must possess strong PC skills
  • Ability to interact with various levels of subcontractors and EB employees in the organization
  • Able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher, if needed
