D487 is seeking an experienced and highly motivated engineer to support component engineering efforts related to electro-mechanical (diesel generator) power generation. Component engineering covers all phases of design and development from inception to shipboard integration and testing. Job duties include program management of a system of 6 major components, regular communication with supporting vendors and Navy personnel, review of technical deliverables (drawings, design reports, procedures, technical correspondence, calculations and test reports), support and oversight of first article and production testing, construction support for delivered equipment, and mentorship of less senior engineers. Position requires interface with other Engineering disciplines, Management, Naval personnel, vendor technical personnel, hardware and software vendors, materials management, quality control, trades and other Electric Boat support personnel. Periodic travel expected to witness work and testing at vendor sights.

Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
4-10 years of relevant experience
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Marine Engineering
Experience and knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Candidate must also be highly motivated, perform independently, and work well in a group environment.
