This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced machinist looking to come off the shop floor and utilize their knowledge and experience in a new way. Machine Shop Methods Analyst are required to utilize machining and manufacturing technical knowledge and experience in making decisions for creating effective manufacturing and assembly travelers. The Machine Shop Methods Analyst for Virginia and Columbia class submarine components will be responsible for generating detailed methods for machining and assembly processes, as well as establishing target hours and span time estimates.
- Interpreting Engineering / Design plan requirements to develop detailed machinists work instructions
- Determine manufacturing process steps required to attain optimal workflow through all machining, assembly, welding, and quality control work center operations
- Identify specific machines and asset work centers required to perform each operation while utilizing experience and knowledge to satisfy all safety, quality, capacity, cost, and schedule considerations
- Identify specific work-holding or tooling requirements needed at each machine or work center in order to perform each operation
- Analyze operation and work center requirements to establish accurate set up and cycle time estimates
- Identify the need for the development of machine programs, special tooling procurement, and fixture design and development to ensure the ability to efficiently meet all manufacturing specifications and requirements
- Serve as a liaison between Design, Engineering, Planning, and Operations to resolve manufacturing issues
