The D278 Test Supervisor must provide supervision, technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly Electronics Technicians. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team’s Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvement. Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers are key elements to success for the selected candidate. Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the activities of assigned Electronics Test employees through the performance of testing Combat and Weapons Systems cabling and components during all phases of new construction and delivered ship availabilities onboard submarines.
- Coordinate Department 278 manning needs among project Chief Test Engineers
- Serve as primary point of contact for new construction project testing needs between the Chief Test Engineer and Electronics Technicians
- Interface with Chief Test Engineers, Test Engineers, Engineering, Ships' Management, Quality, Trade Departments and Ship Force Navy personnel in support of assigned tasking
- Lead the team to achievement of company goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvement
- Assign work; provide technical expertise, instruction, mentoring, motivation and performance assessment of assigned employees
- Supervise all aspects of employees’ attendance, training, qualifications, discipline and administrative actions required to maintain the department
- Verify work performed by employees is being conducted in accordance with policies and procedures
- Perform verification that certification test procedures are being performed correctly
- Interface with union representation and leadership to resolve personnel or union issues
- Maintain electronic test equipment; calibration schedules, purchasing and maintenance
