Department 440 Payload Launch Control Special Projects is responsible for the design development, test, and lifecycle support of special project payload systems on SEAWOLF and VIRGINIA class submarines. The department also manages subcontractor development that support these payload handling systems. Department 440 specializes in the areas of Systems, Hardware, Test, and Platform Integration work. We work with our internal partners developing electrical design products, software, and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) products.
The systems engineering team is responsible for the design and development of embedded systems that control movement of payloads in and out of the submarine. The highest attention to detail is necessary since these systems support mission requirements and must be operated safely and reliably. Systems engineering is responsible for developing and maintaining concept of operations, and requirements specifications. They also conduct the risk management program, perform project planning, and subcontractor management. The team will support integration and test of these systems at an integrated test facility and shipboard. The team conducts project management both in agile and waterfall methodologies
The successful candidate will also be responsible for hiring and staffing of their group and for developing their employees.
The department offers flexible working arrangements including part-time teleworking. Occasional travel may be required to participate in meetings with the Government and subcontractors.
