General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking a Test Supervisor to take part in building the most complex product in the world.

 

The 1st/2nd shift Test Supervisor reports to a Quonset Point (QP) Assistant Chief Test Engineer (CTE) (D972). Must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Daily assignments and overall coordination of employees to ensure maximum performance, efficiency and quality of functions to support QP test schedules
  • Maintain CTE's awareness of problems relating to successful completion of scheduled testing
  • Provide direct supervision of mechanical/electrical/PM test technicians' activities as required
  • Maintain required paperwork
  • Evaluate the performance of personnel and make recommendations for advancement, training or discipline
  • Ensure all Electric Boat policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Review and report manpower needs as required to meet schedules
  • Review test equipment needs and make recommendations for procurement or overhaul of required equipment
  • Actively support the QP Test Improvement Team and the Continuous Improvement Program

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience with piping and mechanical ship systems 
  • Demonstrative ability to read System Diagrams, Construction Diagrams and Tech Manuals
  • Proficient knowledge of calibrated tools and gauges related to mechanical/tank/piping test functions 
  • Able and available to work all assigned shifts and extended hours, as business needs dictate
  • Able to obtain and maintain a final secret security clearance through the Department of Defense 

Preferred:

  • Previous Shipyard Test experience 
  • MDU graduate
  • 2+ years experience with piping and mechanical ship systems
  • Previous Test Supervisory/Leadership experience
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Previous submarine operational experience 
  • Previous military experience desirable as well as ships system testing and/or Quality Assurance oversight experience
  • Military
