Overview

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering and Design (MD&E) and will support the Director of Integrated Propulsion Systems (IPS).  Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Proficient at evaluating and reporting Electric Boat’s Earned Value Management System (EVMS), including overall performance of both VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Programs’ product development (SPI, CPI, CV, SV, etc)
  • Overhead budget development, management, and performance
  • Evaluation and tracking commitment performance
  • Representing the directors for numerous functions (Safety, Security, Resource Management, Facilities Planning, Training plans and metrics, etc.)
  • Procedures and policies development, management and execution
  • Maintaining the MCDE Scorecard by pulling data from many sources. Using strategic analysis, review and reporting of several value added metrics to improve the information provided
  • Pivotal hub of staff communications (Face-to-face, telephone, email, web sites, etc)
  • Directorate support, coordination and representation for numerous audits and Ships Certification
  • Oversight and execution of resources (personnel, workspaces, hardware and software)

Qualifications

Required: 

  • BS / BA degree
  • 5+ years of experience obtaining, manipulating, and analyzing business systems data including but not limited to cost, schedule, staffing performance metrics

  • Internal Salary exempt employees must have reached a senior level title or higher

Preferred: 

  • Prior experience working with various EB business systems to perform metrics gathering and analysis.
  • Experience with Web development and maintenance (HTML, CSS, JAVA, etc.)
  • Prior experience with overhead planning and performance

Skills

This position requires the candidate to focus on organizational performance, and be capable of developing, maintaining and analyzing metrics for improving performance. Must be independent, self-motivated and able to work with minimal guidance.

 

The ideal applicant will posses the following skills:

  • Advanced MS Excel skills: ability to create, analyze and graph performance metrics, and budget analysis / maintenance
  • Ability to solve problems and perform root cause analysis
  • Ability to learn, utilize and develop new data storage platforms (i.e. Power BI)
  • Understanding of resource based scheduling and planning tools (i.e. ARTEMIS)
  • Must be well-organized and capable of performing multiple assignments simultaneously
