Overview

Electric Boat Corporation is seeking an experienced engineer to join the VIRGINIA Class Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical Systems group, Department 426. This full time position located in New London, CT will support the design and development of fast attack submarine electrical systems supporting underwater electromagnetic performance goals.


The engineer will be responsible for mentoring and training new engineers, leading projects, performing technical reviews, developing schedules, vendor management, communicating with Navy program office and technical personnel, and supporting EB and NNS shipyards through technical design issues

 

Examples of the type of work this position offers:

  • Develop submarine electrical systems including requirements development, ship’s construction drawings, 3D arrangement model, and component selection and test procedures
  • Work with the submarine industrial base to specify, procure, qualify and deliver electronics equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues identified by the ship’s construction and test teams
  • Development of new technologies for implementation onto the submarine platform

 

Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ plus years of professional engineering experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance with the DoD
  • Willingness to travel (10%)

 

Preferred:

  • Electrical circuit design and analysis
  • Systems Engineering processes / Requirements management
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic principles
