Overview

General Dynamic Electric Boat (EB) has a proud 126-year heritage of submarine building excellence and is confronted with an enormous challenge that has not been experienced by any generation since World War II. Restoring the capacity and capabilities of our U.S. Navy Submarine Force to historic levels while building the next generation of shipbuilders that will take this country well into the latter decades of this century.

To ensure that our critical mission of preserving our nation’s freedom; a robust supply-chain of over 2700 suppliers needs to increase the throughput of material to an unprecedented level, while maintaining first time quality, meeting challenging technical specification, and compliance to proper record keeping to ensure delivery of submarines.

 

The Supplier Assessment Group Liaison reports to the Engineering Supervisor of Supply Chain Development and Risk Management.  The Supplier Assessment Group Liaison serves as a key player in providing proper oversight of the supply base from a performance perspective (i.e. delivering part/products on time with first time quality, including the assurance of appropriate capacity and capability).

 

General Description of Position:

As part of the maritime industrial base (MIB)’s overall goals of increasing domestic shipbuilding capacity, the supplier assessment group (SAG) and supplier risk group (SRG) brings  a unique opportunity to work with various stakeholders from engineering, quality, program offices, and procurement across all levels of the business.

 

In this supporting role, the candidate, can expect a significant amount of time project managing the critical supplier assessment (CSA) schedule, creating and coordinating presentations, and be responsible for directly informing the leadership team of CSA progress. Additionally, this position will help with SAG track and monitor supply chain risks and vulnerabilities by creating presentations, performing research and analysis (e.g. create comprehensive reports) on various risk items, and completion of risk profile.

 

This dynamic and fast pace role in a growing environment will provide direct mentoring and guidance from the supplier development engineer supervisor and manager to foster additional opportunities within the organization.  

 

NOTE: Travel may be required to attend CSA meetings and or perform work scope, however should not exceed more than a 25% of time.

*This role is located on-site in Groton, CT

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will work directly with the SAG, an engineering led group, whom are responsible for completing critical supplier assessments and market space health. Additionally, this position will work directly with the SRG, a non-technical led group, whom are responsible for tracking, monitoring, and mitigating supply chain risk, both systemic (e.g. tariffs, hurricanes) and individual supplier risk (obsolescence, exiting of market, facility moves).

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Tracking, managing, and communication of CSA schedule; which will include coordination of schedules amongst many stakeholders
  • Development and maintenance of department metrics
  • Development of powerpoints and presentations for SAG and SRG
  • Meeting minute development
  • Issuance of Weekly Reports to the hiring supervisor, which shall include,
    • Updated CSA metrics/status
    • Consolidation & Talking Points for emails
    • Key decision made or needed
  • Assist with Supplier Risk Profiles
  • Assist with (CSA) top tier assessments

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 2+ years of experience related to completing critical supplier assessments and market space health preparing comprehensive reports, analysis of data and project managing where data is packaged into a presentable format
  • Experience in using MS Word, PowerPoint preparing presentations, & Excel  (creating reports, pivot tables, graphs & presentations)
  • Ability to travel based on business needs 

 

Preferred Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Human Resources 
  • Supply Chain Management Experience 
  • Data analytics certification or PMP degree 

Skills

  • Demonstrate experience to prepare comprehensive reports
  • Demonstrated experience to work collaboratively
  • Proven ability to write in a logical and clear manner for a large diverse audience
  • Proven ability to develop consensus among multiple stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills
  • Cataloging of data with ability to summarize both verbal and written
  • Ability to analyze large data set, including but not limited to curating, managing, configuration management
  • Experience conducting capability and/or capacity assessments

  • Analytical skills of both data and stakeholder input (i.e. verbal data)
