Overview

Electric Boat (EB) seeks a program manager to lead the programmatic implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at EB. We seek a person with exceptional communication and leadership skills that is highly organized, highly self-motivated, and able to identify and drive AI application needs across our submarine development, design, construction, testing and fleet support enterprise. Specific job functions include:

  • Develop long term strategic plans for development and implementation of AI at EB, including associated plans of action and milestones
  • Identify specific AI use cases needed to enhance business operations and performance, and work with subject matter experts to develop execution plans.
  • Procure funding streams, working with task leads, to enable implementation of AI capabilities
  • Lead teams of engineers, Facilities and IT to procure and install on-premises computer hardware needed for efficient development of AI capabilities and implementation across the enterprise.
  • Develop metrics to track goals, schedules, performance to schedule and budget, return on investment and completion of AI capability implementations and present them to company and Navy executives
  • Develop systems to ensure the deployed hardware and software provides high quality solutions.
  • Ensure company-wide visibility of implemented AI applications, develop, and implement metrics to track usage of each AI application and ensure their benefits are maximized.
  • Stay abreast of AI trends across all industries and academia to drive the most current solutions to EB while managing any associated risks.
  • Interface with other General Dynamics (GD) business units to develop collaborative opportunities, share lessons learned, and maximize benefits across GD.
  • Execute audits and/ or surveillances to ensure EB compliance with company and corporate policies and applicable industry standards.

The selected candidate will work closely with D425, which is the engineering department that is building the technical expertise in AI that will serve as a key resource to the program manager, guiding technical decision and plan development, and helping task leads throughout the company gain access to the appropriate skills and knowledge. The candidate will also work closely with IT, legal, cybersecurity and other personnel to ensure safe and risk-balanced implementations at EB.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience related to the job posting
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience 
  • Project planning experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Working knowledge of commercially available AI software and hardware platforms

  • Ability to coordinate needs of multiple stakeholders, influence colleagues at all levels, and drive to consensus solutions
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel from working level through executive, and with people from all disciplines, both internal and external to the company

  • Basic knowledge of AI principles and methods
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems, networks and cybersecurity risks
  • Experience designing and developing business metrics, and using them to drive decision making
