Engineers at Electric Boat work collaboratively across departments and with our customer to develop innovative solutions for the United States Navy’s nuclear submarines. As an Intern, you'll be exposed to various engineering activities with the support of our senior staff. This program grants our trainees the opportunity to develop valuable skills and dive into cutting-edge projects such as leading the Columbia Class design and enhancing Virginia Class submarines. Every intern will be exposed to a wealth of knowledge in order to excel in the engineering domain.
This program requires an 8-week commitment during the summer 2026 season.
Participation in this program requires medical screening, passing a drug test, and potential DOD Investigation.

Nuclear Quality Organization – Summer Internship

The Nuclear Quality Control Engineering Summer Interns may be responsible for the following tasks:
Support D421 Nuclear Quality Control Engineering organization in the review of drawings/disclosures, specifications, and technical work documents to ensure identification of required quality and inspection/documentation requirements. Interns will also be involved with both design and construction issues including design integration of quality requirements and construction problem resolution supporting new construction ships and maintenance and repair of commissioned ships.
Support D421 Problem Resolution Engineering organization in formal investigations of unplanned events vialearning sessions with Engineering and Operation organizations utilizing fundamentals of problem resolution. Interns will also support in problem resolution process improvements related to procedure and internal problem resolution databases
The Nuclear Quality Control Audit & Assessment Summer Interns may be responsible for the following tasks:
Support D424 Audit & Assessment organization in performing surveillances, audits, and assessments to provide quality oversight. Interns will also support other quality functions including but not limited to external audits, corrective action boards, and self-assessments.
Support D424 Quality Data Analytics organization in quality data and trend analysis to support quality reporting. Interns may also support Discipline Steering Teams, model development, and system improvements.
