Overview

The calibration technician will utilize their knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to effectively plan and perform work related to calibrating, troubleshooting, and/or repairing various Measurement and Test Equipment at the Quonset Point facility. The primary responsibility of the calibration technician is to identify and apply appropriate calibration procedures to ensure measurement accuracy and functionality of equipment in the electrical, dimensional, physical, and mechanical domains. Additionally, the technician must be able to recognize routine problems, devise solutions, and take effective action to address issues encountered during the calibration process.

 

Primary Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and apply appropriate calibration procedures to ensure accuracy and functionality of measurement and test equipment in electrical, dimensional, physical, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Track and maintain calibration standards and laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct research on measurement and test equipment and laboratory standards.
  • Communicate and coordinate with vendors, engineering staff, Groton Metrology, and managerial personnel to resolve issues and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with and support manufacturing areas to solve problems, meet needs, and adhere to production schedules.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to laboratory operations.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent (associate degree in a technical field preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in calibration or similar technical support role
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and diagrams
  • Willingness to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, or alternate schedules as needed to support business requirements
  • Capability to plan and manage a high volume of work
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Working Level understanding of hand tools and measurement equipment.

Preferred: 

  • Experience performing calibrations to navy specifications
  • Experience performing complex dimensional calibrations

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and manage a high volume of work effectively.
  • Basic math skills to support tool measurement and calibration tracking.
  • A quality-focused approach, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all processes.
  • Ability to analyze workflows, recommend improvements, and help build sustainable processes to support lab operations.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
