Overview

The Advance Planning Supervisor is responsible to oversee and drive the daily workload within the Columbia Advance Planning New Construction team. The role encompasses complex scheduling assessments and it is essential that the selected individual is able to drive accountability within the team to own, defend, and clearly articulate the details of their portions of schedule. Regular interface with Program Management, Ships Management, Detail Planning & Production Control will be required. 

The ideal candidate will be a competent individual who will be able to guide and train their employees. The Advance Planning Supervisor will be well-versed in department procedures and processes.  The ability to clearly and succinctly communicate schedule risks and mitigation plans is imperative. 

Overarching objective is to ensure the enterprise can rely on the Artemis Network to prioritize Design/Engineering/Planning/Deckplate work, and accurately influence critical business decisions.

This is an on-site position Monday - Friday located in Groton, CT,

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in any combination of Planning / Scheduling, Project Management, Ship Management, Test, Operation’s, Engineering or Navy Submarine Service
  • Current or previous user of Artemis, Primavera or directly related scheduling software

Preferred:

  • Previous or currently holds a supervisor position, leading a team of 5+ direct reports
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (AS or BS)
  • Familiarity with the Integrated Management and Control System (IMCS), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • An expert user of Project Management Software, predominantly MS Project and Artemis

Skills

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Final Assembly and Test ship construction processes with an emphasis on ship certification
  • Knowledge of submarine systems (purpose and operations)
  • Possess experience and knowledge of the requirements for successfully integrating Test and Ship’s Force requirements into ships’ schedules is highly desirable
  • Skilled computer and Microsoft Office user
  • Strong communication skills
