Overview

 

Department 425, Electrical Systems Embedded Software Engineering, engineers apply software and computer engineering skills to specify, design, develop, integrate, and test, as well as subcontract manage software development for US Navy Nuclear Submarines.  Collaborating with systems, hardware, and test engineers, software is developed, tested and maintained for a variety of submarine platforms and electrical systems for the propulsion and electric plant as well as hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) systems. D425 is hiring a project planner to support development and management of project plans and schedules as well as execution of tasking.

 

D425 is looking for a program planner to perform the following:

  • Lead scope management and schedule status for software development efforts to support construction and fleet needs
  • Establish related scope with key stakeholders in software test as well as systems and qualification teams external to the department
  • Establish and maintain monthly report outs of finances based on labor hours and material costs
  • Work with the customer to establish and maintain project plans and appropriate manning in the department
  • Update and maintain risk and watch items working with technical leads and supervisors
  • Maintain and submit weekly labor reports
  • Represent EB at routine meetings, onsite visits for working meetings, technology exchanges, Composite Test Facility and Reconfigurable Software Verification Platform familiarization and testing

 Additional job duties will include in support of the department and directorate:

  • Collect data and issue quarterly Technical Product Quality (TPQ) reports
  • Coordinate internal/external department audits
  • Generate, manage, and implement actionable quality improvement initiatives based on data from TPQ reports and audits
  • Coordinate department training
  • Lead the yearly department self-assessment
  • Communicate with the directorate quality advocate
  • Lead department Deckplate/Team Learning Sessions

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years professional experience in Program and Project Management in any professional job environment with a PMP certification

Preferred:

  • Business Degree
  • Experience in developing and successfully implementing scope schedule and budget plans
  • Active SECRET or higher clearance
