The Radiological Engineering (RE) Supervisor will be responsible for a team of radiological engineers, providing radiological oversight of nuclear work in the Groton Shipyard and at the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department (NRMD) at the New London SUBASE. The successful candidate will collaborate daily with Nuclear Operations, Nuclear Test, Audit & Assessment, Radiological Controls personnel, Nuclear Engineering as well as other Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plant activities, local customer representatives (NRRO, RPCO, SUPSHIP), Squadron and Ship's Force. The group’s products may include: executing radioactive material shipments, oversight of the mixed waste program, providing deck plate support and oversight of radiological work in the Shipyard and at NRMD, maintenance and support of the Radiological Deficiency Report (RDR) system, supporting the RE continuous training program & the RE initial qualification program, and ensuring NNPP Principles and NAVSEA 389-0228 requirements are met. Personnel also support other radiological engineering functions, such as: preparing radiological control agreements with Ships Force and Maintenance Activities, maintaining the radiological status of ships, assisting in the development of exposure estimates and goals, etc.
