Overview

Opportunity Summary:
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world’s foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking a PLM Architect within the Information Technology Department.

 

The ideal candidate brings an enterprise mindset and the ability to align IT solutions with business-driven objectives. Strong candidates will have broad knowledge of information systems, architecture frameworks, engineering processes, and cross-functional solution design. This role requires an active learner capable of operating independently and balancing multiple priorities.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Interpreting business needs to define functional and nonfunctional architectural requirements.
• Communicating architectural concepts through clear, compelling narratives for diverse stakeholders.
• Driving progress and resolving issues when faced with incomplete or conflicting information.
• Collaborating closely with application architects, data architects, developers, system engineers, and infrastructure teams.
• Designing and governing application solution architectures that meet internal and external business needs.
• Managing formal and informal communications to strengthen stakeholder relationships.
• Coaching non-architects to adopt architectural thinking, frameworks, and processes.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • 5+ years of post-graduate engineering 

Preferred:

  • Strong understanding of product structures, configuration management, and BOM/BOP/MBOM concepts, change management, and release processes.
  • Deep knowledge of product structure management (variants, configurations, snapshots, revision rules).
  • Familiarity with integrating PLM systems with ERP, MES, ALM, and CRM platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Visualization/Teamcenter integrations with Active Workspace, NX, and other Siemens tools.
  • Experience leading PLM roadmaps, governance frameworks, and organizational change management.
  • Working knowledge of JT/PLMXML export formats.
  • Working knowledge of Digital Twin / Digital Mockup concepts.

  • Blends technical depth with practical business insight.
  • Experience with Siemens toolsets (e.g., NX, Teamcenter Visualization).
  • Ability to map complex engineering processes to Teamcenter capabilities.
  • Understanding of fundamental PLM processes.
  • Ability to translate business processes into scalable PLM workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, IT, quality, and supply chain teams.
