Overview

The Offsite Maintenance and Modernization (M&M) Office in Puget is hiring a Production Planner.

This position is responsible for production control planning that supports maintenance work on various construction efforts within the shipyard and shop environments. The ideal candidate will cultivate and promote a positive TEAM environment, be highly motivated, demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and drive innovation and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will establish and maintain strong working relationship with the AIT team to ensure performance in safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

This individual will work collaboratively with on-site supervision to achieve department goals and apply corrective actions as needed to address deficiencies. The position requires a strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability to achieve overall success.

The Production Control Planner will be a hybrid of Detail Planning, Production Planning and Advanced Planning.  Travel will be required to off-site locations to support coordination and oversight of related activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate detailed schedules utilizing MS Project and ARTEMIS
  • Conduct drawing reviews, generate work breakdown structures (WBS) and product structuring
  • Generate shop work order packages for supervision and perform daily closeouts
  • Conduct MRP file loads and implementation of SWSS and CPJ for structural and piping work
  • Perform acquisition and tracking of software, hardware and various materials
  • Responsible for coordinating material movements, warehouse picks and expediting material to/from off-site buffer locations
  • Responsible for new construction work orders and delivered ship work packages (TGI’s)
  • Comply with all EB company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with management and other logistics analysts to ensure strong support for manufacturing
  • Promote a collaborative and team environment to meet organizational goals
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, design, material, quality and other support organizations as necessary
  • Improve workforce performance and productivity; establish and communicate expectations; positively motivate the workforce
  • Possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as the requirements of assigned tasks dictate
  • Monitor and improve workplace climate; reinforce desired workforce values behaviors; maintain morale

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years project Planning / Warehousing / Logistics / Manufacturing experience or a Bachelors degree or above
  • Travel to other shipyards in the continental United States and the Far East is required
  • Required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Required to perform shift work and emergency overtime as work dictates
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher
  • The successful candidate will be expected to know, comply with and participate in site improvement goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvement 

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management
  • Multi-discipline Planning experience
  • Past experience working in Naval Shipyard environment
  • Hazmat training
  • Knowledge of MRP II, SPARS EDLDR
  • Proficient in ATA, Lotus Notes, Cornerstone, PQS
  • Trade background or technical apprenticeship training
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience with audit processes and compliance management
  • Military service
  • Experience with Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, Sheet metal, Welding processes and installation of multiple ship systems on Trident, 688, Seawolf and Virginia class submarines
  • Welding, NDT, Electrical, RADCON, and QA experience in maritime environment a plus

Skills

  • A working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning principles and system awareness of EWP, PCM, Teamcenter
  • A working knowledge of various ERP software systems
  • The candidate must possess strong analytical, causal analysis, communication, organizational, planning, and writing skills under minimal supervision
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask within a constantly changing environment
  • Strong coordination skills across multiple disciplines and functional areas
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical correspondence
  • Strong communicator with the ability to balance priorities
  • Proficient in vendor relationships management
  • Proven track record of driving results and achieving operational success
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of EB and government management/oversight
