As integral members of the Navy Propulsor Team, Engineers in this group are dedicated to providing high quality engineering, design, and manufacturing and construction support services to the Navy and to the shipyards. The group leads the integration of ship systems that interface with the CLB GFE propulsor, and provides oversight and coordination of component vendor activities. Engineers in the group work closely with Mechanical Design to create, review, and issue design disclosures supporting the propulsor program.

The group also supports concept design development and engineering studies for propulsor-specific programs sponsored by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division. The group frequently works with other members of the Navy Propulsor Team including Electric Boat’s shock, hydrodynamics, shafting and bearing engineering, and ship signatures departments, Pennsylvania State University Applied Research Laboratory, and Navy laboratories.

Duties include creating and checking engineering calculations, evaluation and adjudication of vendor manufacturing and installation issues, preparation of written engineering procedures in support of shipyard installation efforts, and design of GFE and shipyard lifting, handling and transportation hardware. Occasional travel to Washington DC or vendor sites may be required.
