Overview

The successful candidate will join the Accuracy Control and Optical Tool. The group supports construction at the Groton Shipyard, a dynamic and fast paced environment requiring prompt and technically sound dimensional control solutions. This team is responsible for; all phases of the dimensional control process, defining shipbuilding dimensional control requirements, planning jobs and their execution, processing and presenting as-built data, and continuously improving processes. 

Senior Accuracy Control Analysts are responsible for executing accuracy control processes for submarine construction. Primary duties include: 

  • Develop and revise dimensional control documents and procedures
  • Save and manage records for digital and physical resources
  • Support supervisor in systems management and records responsibilities
  • Create best practice documentation
  • Instruct coworkers on company processes
  • Close out open accuracy control requirements
  • Mentor and provide backup support for new AC analysts
  • Generate and manage OTARS (Optical Tool Alignment Reports)
  • Manage revision requests and coordinate data sheet updates
  • Review planning and construction schedules to address emergent work
  • Support engineering and metrology technicians in surveying and processing routine and emergent projects
  • Maintainand update various spreadsheets, databases and lists 

Good interpersonal and communication skills will assist a successful candidate as they will routinely interface with; Management, Accuracy Control Engineers, Metrology Technicians, Planning teams, Engineering groups, Operations, Ship’s Management, other shipyards, vendors, and external customers. Other necessary skills for this position include advanced computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products, problem solving, composition, multi-tasking and project management. 

The successful candidate will work in an office environment but may occasionally be required to travel to support offsite work and ship schedules. 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of trade experience in shipfitting, machining or similar, and/or 2+ years of Planning experience or equivalent 

Preferred: 

  • Previous experience working in shipbuilding, the construction industry or a manufacturing environment 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or related discipline 
  • Military/Navy experience

Skills

  • Clear Written,Verbal and Interpersonal communication skills are required 
  • Problem Solving, Leadership, and/or Project management strength
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment
