Overview

Applicant will work with other Cost Engineers/Estimators to analyze data in the support and creation of primarily Design and Engineering proposals and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Programs, Overhaul and Repair, CONFORM, and various other programs.  

Applicant will frequently interface with other organizations during the performance of analyses (e.g. Contracts, Program Office, Program Finance, Engineering, Purchasing, etc.).

Applicant will primarily operate in a problem solving and analytical role, supporting proposals and ROMs.

Specifically, the applicant will:

  • Support proposals development, negotiations, and certification as required for new engineering efforts or various other programs
  • Prepare estimates for trade-off studies, make or buy analyses, or cost reduction initiatives using historical data or by developing discrete inputs by working with Subject Matter Experts (SME)
  • Review associated documentation to ensure estimates are consistent with authorized scope (e.g. drawings/disclosures, ship specifications, contract documents, etc.)
  • Prepare reconciliations to previous estimates and/or historical data for similar scope
  • Analyze returned costs in support of developing standard cost estimating relationships used in support of proposal and ROM development

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred:

  • 3+ years in a Financial, Data Analytics, Program/Contract Support role
  • Previous experience with DoD contracting
  • Previous experience with proposal development
  • Previous experience with FAR/DFARS regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, etc.)

Skills

  • Demonstrated work ethic, initiative, and organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently to analyze data and resolve questions, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle company sensitive information with the proper level of discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, to submit deliverables within a constrained timeline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Support occasional travel and work extended hours and weekends if required
