Overview

The Personnel Security Office is seeking a professional to support a wide range of background/clearance investigation and associated administration functions for Electric Boat. This role is ideal for candidates with prior background investigation experience, industrial security experience, or similar personnel vetting backgrounds who want to apply their critical thinking, analytical, and reporting skills in a fast-paced environment.

 

The successful candidate will assist with conducting background checks for employees and vendors, process foreign travel reporting, and maintain accurate, compliant security records.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance, analysis and direction on a variety of personnel security matters to leadership, program managers and security officials.
  • Conduct and review background checks for employees and vendors, working with our HR department in applying sound adjudicative judgment.
  • Perform various identity‑verification tasks.
  • Communicate with Government agencies and supervisors regarding clearance actions and required documentation.
  • Assist with preparing and submitting adverse information reports, incident reports, and other PERSEC‑related notifications.
  • Operate and maintain accuracy within DISS and NBIS for foreign travel reports.
  • Support ICIMS‑related security tasks and data integrity checks.
  • Identify and help resolve clearance/badge discrepancies.
  • Assist with audit preparation, inspections, and compliance reviews.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial security or previous personnel security experience
  • Working knowledge of the NISPOM, EB Security Manual, Security Executive Agent Directive 3 (SEAD-3) Reporting requirements and applicable guidance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous clearance investigation experience (Government or Industrial)
  • Familiarity with adjudication principles and federal personnel vetting standards
  • Experience with security education, awareness, or self‑inspection activities
  • Military experience or previous government experience with clearances

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgment when applying personnel security policies and procedures
  • Ability to professionally interact with government and management representatives (DCSA, NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, NCIS, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and documentation experience
  • Experience managing multiple tasks accurately in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with personnel at all levels
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive or time‑critical matters
