Training is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Instructor to support needs for Quality Assurance and Nuclear Quality Control inspection. This position will report to the NDT Chief of Training and play an integral role in the training and qualification of NDT inspectors at the Quonset Point, RI and Groton, CT locations. This instructor position will be part of a team, responsible for the delivery of NDT training.

Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter, and possess the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal & written communication skills.  Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor and a desire to teach. 

Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:  

• Instructing training sessions for various NDT methods that may include (VT, MT, PT, UT, ET & RT). 
• Attain & maintain active Level II qualifications for each NDT method taught by the Instructor
• Directing and assessing hands on training with mockups and related exercises
• Preparing for instruction all NDT classes by studying all curriculum
• Assisting with curriculum development as a Subject Matter Expert in the training organization, interfacing with NDT Engineers 
• Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
• Assessing student performance & identifying non-conformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
• Supporting various course content / training package reviews and related activities
• Conducting assessments & pre-certification exams as scheduled
• Meeting with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed
• Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
• Communicate with other instructors and management to advance work and communicate issues
• Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned
• Provide training and coaching with peers as dictated by the NDT Chief of Training and/or Manager of Nuclear Operations Training
• Assessing student performance & identifying non-conformances to policies, technical documents, etc.
• Supporting curriculum development efforts & providing input for curriculum updates, in conjunction with the curriculum development team
• Supporting training needs as dictated by schedule including off-site location and alternate shift assignments
• Supporting special training projects as required
• Occasional volunteer opportunities to support offsite training at EB Maintenance Facilities and Focus Factories

 Work Schedule – The selected candidate will be expected to work the following work schedule:

• General 2^nd shift hours (3:30pm – 12:00am) with flexibility to adjust hours to occasional 1^st shift as necessary to support business need. Includes short term training assignments on all shifts as needed

Requirements:

• Possess a High school diploma/ GED
• 3+ years' experience as an NQC/QA Inspector; or 6+ years' experience in instructing adult learners in a technical background; or experienced with naval nuclear propulsion
• Must attain and maintain active Level II qualifications for each NDT method taught by the Instructor within 1 year of position start date. Demonstrated progress towards level II qualifications must be made within the first 6 months. 
• Must have the ability to support 2nd shift classes, as well as both QP and Groton and their associated off-site training facilities
• Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete Qualified Instructor training
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

Preferred:

• Current certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or Radiographic Testing (RT)
• Current or previous certification in both Magnetic Particle Testing and Liquid Penetrant Testing
• Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education and Development; Nuclear Engineering Technologies; Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) or Journeyman Instructor Training (JIT); or closely related field
• Associates degree or certificate 
• Experience in delivering naval or shipyard training to adults
• Ability to travel for temporary assignments

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
• Have a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of leaning abilities 
• Must possess excellent organizational and facilitation skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Must be able to work at both the Quonset Point & Groton facilities and units to support all areas as required
• Must be able to support 2nd shift classroom instruction
