Overview

Production Control drives construction through work paper and material and works hand in hand with Operations to complete submarine construction. Multiple positions are available in support of CLB Production Control. Candidates for this position can be chosen for either the Production Control Material team or the Production Control Ship Check Team. In order to perform these functions, the successful candidate will be required to interface with Operations, Engineering, Design, Material Systems, Configuration Management, Quality and other support organizations at various levels of management.

  • The Material Team works with Logistics/Transportation to ensure material is ready and available for the trades when needed. They work closely with the MAST Team to ensure the proper material and quantities are received by the trades. This team works to control the amount of material brought into the building by the trades to alleviate storage issues and decrease the amount of material that is lost.
  • The Ship Check Team works closely with the Ship’s Planner team. They are a part of the Virtual and Physical ship check team. This team uses multiple business systems EWP, Team Center etc to virtually verify work order readiness (Virtual Ship Check). They create a detailed work package using these business systems that is then passed on to the Physical Ship Check Team. The Physical Ship Check team takes the work package and walks the submarine to physically verify the readiness of the work order. Once verified the work is passed to the trades.

This position requires a self-motivated person with attention to detail and the desire to work in a fast paced high volume atmosphere. The candidate needs to be able to work well independently as well as in a group. The ability to adjust priorities daily is a necessary trait. Successful candidate will be expected to be aware of and in compliance with those attributes of Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvement as they apply to their position.
