The Structural Engineering Process & Cutover Team is responsible for owning, improving, and sustaining the end‑to‑end processes that support design and engineering execution within the Structures organization. The team focuses on developing and maintaining processes that enable predictable, high‑quality design and engineering output while reducing inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and inconsistencies across programs.
Responsibilities include process development, detailed process analysis, mapping complex workflows, identifying pain points, and establishing standards that ensure design and engineering activities operate with clarity, efficiency, and strong configuration control. Team members work cross‑functionally to understand and optimize how tasks flow from initial concept all the way through disclosure issue and hand-off to supporting organizations. By engaging directly with design and engineering teams, reviewing work products, and supporting daily execution, the team maintains a critical feedback loop that informs continuous process development. End‑to‑end alignment extends beyond Structures, including integration with Materials, Planning, WPDDS, ECM, and other supporting organizations to ensure design and engineering outputs seamlessly support downstream production needs.
In addition to enterprise process ownership, the team plays a key role in supporting Electric Boat’s VA Cutover mission. Cutover represents a significant component of the broader end‑to‑end process landscape, involving the transition of CATIA‑based VA design data into the Siemens tool-set (Teamcenter/NX) to enable VA Class digital transformation and support future design efforts. The team ensures Cutover workflows integrate smoothly with established engineering and design processes, maintain data accuracy, and protect configuration integrity across the dual‑database environment. Responsibilities include developing end‑to‑end processes for executing teams that ensure quality, proper data transfer, and consistent alignment across organizations, and interfacing with internal and external customers to develop scalable automation solutions.
