Electric Boat, Middletown, RI: The Newport Engineering Office (NEO) department 702 is seeking experienced non-degreed engineering personnel to be members of the Commissioned Submarine Backfit and Modernization Team. The team applies diversified engineering skills, leads teams of engineering and design personnel which produce ship’s design products in support of Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) Ship Alteration (SHIPALT) implementation on OHIO and VIRGINIA classes of submarines.   The candidate will have the responsibility for a defined system, work package, project, or task to include the following: - Leading the kickoff of a Design/Drawing Development project (SHIPALT, TRID) - Providing System Level analysis (Electrical Concentration) of all Government Furnished Information (GFI) - Provide Cognizant Engineer support to all projects assigned - Provide Project Management, Technical leadership and Project Quality to all projects assigned - Provide a technical review of design drawings, cable test procedures, engineer changes, manual change requests, and liaison action requests. Engineering personnel will also interface with customers and/or end users such as NAVSEA PMS392 and PMS396, NUWC Codes 25, 34 and NPES Participating Acquisition Resource Managers (PARM). This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.   The Fire Safety Technician position is a diverse position that influences life safety conditions in shipyard manufacturing facility. A Fire Safety Technician responsibilities are certifying atmospheres in all confine spaces, preforming fire safety inspection of buildings and submarine units, surveillance of all hot work on the facility and fire code enforcement in accordance with NFPA, OSHA, RI Fire Code, Electric Boat and Navy requirements.    Fire Safety Technician will be trained for confine spaces certification, ventilation, and 24hr recertifications.  Other responsibilities are yearly testing of fire hydrants, dry and wet pipe sprinkler testing, monthly testing of fire alarm and fire systems, fire extinguisher and fire hose maintenance, quarterly and bi-annual testing. Working with maintenance personnel to repair and update fire alarms and sprinklers. Responsibilities ranging from Haz-Mat locker inspection; FDC inspections, AED maintenance, gas meter maintenance and testing, Daily vehicle inventory and inspection.  The Fire Technician will be dealing with all types of emergency response with Electric Boat ranging from Haz-Mat, confine space rescue, high angle rope rescue, EMS response, and all fire related emergencies.   The Fire Technician will be working with the ETM system (Electronic Tank Monitoring). This system monitors all employees inside confine spaces. Issuing V-Passes to employees and imputing their information into INET, constant roving checks of tanks, responding to VPass alarms, and covering the FMO dispatch Center when needed.
